Newham's Shame - Carpenters Estate Tour

Stratford, London. Sat 21 Jul 2012

When we arrived back at Lund Point we found police had arrived to stop us going inside.
They also prevented the resident who had invited us and his family from entering. You can follow the story
about this at Police Deny Olympic Residents Access - and a link at the end of that story will bring you back here,
where the tour of the estate continues from a balcony on the 20th floor of Lund Point.

When we finally got to the 20th floor, this was the view we got of the Olympic site, across a street and the railway

and Tawanda Nyabango told us more about some of the problems people on the estate had suffered because

of the Olympic site. More pictures including some panoramas from this balcony at Olympic Views shortly

back on the ground I had a quick drink in the Carpenter's Arms before photographing the industry on the north edged of the estate

and then making my way back to the station

Past a notice 'Save our Homes on the Carpenters Estate from Demolition

and across the footbridge that takes people from the estate to central Stratford

With its expensive and I think rather bad public art

to find another block was now hidden by Olympic adverts, and 'that penthouses are coming soon

welcome to the new corporate Stratford
