Cookham

Berkshire. Mon 21 May 2012

Much of the centre of Cookham still looks pretty oldfashioned

The landing stage was once next to a lawn on the left, now it is just outside seating for a pub

The houses leading to the churchyard

which was one of Spencer's favourite places

the church has several monuments to people who died on or in the Thames, just a few yards away

Things have changed greatly by the river

The house where he livedwith a blue plaque - it looks much neater than when he lived there.
