A Country Walk

Wooburn, Bucks. Monday 20 Sept 2010

The Wye runs through Wooburn and once powered several mills - there is still some industry beside it

Next to Hedsor Rd on the outskirts of Bourne End

Hedsor House was built in 1868, though the site had been lived on since 1166. Still in private hands and available for weddings, conferences, films etc

Part of the grounds of Hedsor House

A very well kept pubic footpath. It took us a short distance out of our way but we couldn't resist the steps!

Lord Boston's Folly, Hedsor - late 18th century

Unfortunately we were in too much of a hurry to get to the pub for lunch to walk up the the church

Part of the folly, erected by Lord Boston as a memorial to George III, was used as a gardener's cottage

We didn't sit in the large been garden

the bar serves reasonable food.
There is also a restuarant and a more modern accomodation block.
We talked to some guys from Manchester who had stayed there to go to Kempton Park - quite a long taxi ride.
One asked us if it was a good place for walking.
