Kew Gardens

Kew, London. Saturday 6 Feb, 2010

Pictures taken inside Kew Gardens posted here are not commercially available

This is a copy of a 1st century AD vase which was discovered at the Villa Medici Rome around 1600 and, considerably restored, is now in the Uffizi gallery, Florence. The Kew copy is in Coade Stone, made around 1825 at Lambeth.

This was the first day of Kew's Tropical Extravaganza

which I found consderably over the top

But they did still have much of their normal displays including the fish

Some tanks were very dim and it was hard to get sharp images

And it was hard to avoid reflections - for example in this picture of a Green Dragon (just across there river there is a Green Dragon Lane, but I've never seen one there.
