	Bow Back Rivers - Prescott Lock Site Thursday 8 March, 2007 Channelsea Rvier and the island, with Abbey Creek to left

	Canary Wharf tower seen through the Imperial Gas Company, erected 1870-75.
	The tide flowing out fast from the Prescott Channel, officially opened in 1935. The sluice on this flood-relief channel was removed around 1960.
			The Prescott Channell runs into the Channelsea River. The first Big Brother house was a few metres behind me, but no traces now remain.
			The new sluice, lock and footbridge will be built around here on the Prescott Channel. A fast tidal flow along with shallow waters makes navigation very tricky at the moment Much of the land now taken by the new sewage pumping station was once covered by allotments like these, owned by the West Ham Allotments Society founded in 1916 or earlier. Three Mills Green now looks rather stark Three Mills Green This memorial marks the heroism of distillery workers who died trying to rescue a workmate in 1901. The sculpture ‘Helping Hands’ by Alec Peevers replaced an earlier large cross. The original inscription panels are on the brick walls.
