			Channelsea River (now just a tidal creek with no river flowing into it.)
			Left of Channelsea Island is Channelsea River, right is Abbey Creek The Channelsea River ran along the left of where this Underfground depot was built. Thirty years ago it was just a ditch. Abbey Mills pumping station (Charles Driver, 1865-8), the "cathedral of sewage", viewed from the Greenway. Splendid detailing in the exterior brickwork. The modern pumping station (1994-7, Allies and Morrison.) is impressive, but not in the same league. Ruined factory on the Channelsea Island between the Channelsea River and Abbey Creek. The original Abbey Mill was on an island in the river, though I'm not sure if it was this one. There are no remains.
