seized from his home by police shortly after giving an interview with
Al Jazeera over Skype in which he
criticised the Bangladesh government's handling of students protesting

Shaidul Alam also founded the Pathshala school of photography, arguably
the world's leading school for
photojournalists. Among those calling for his release were a number
of photographers.
