John Hetherington & Sons made textile machinery at the Vulcan Works
and the neighbouring site was a cotton mill
Albion Mill. Both works on Pollard St are now converted into flats and offices.

Ancoats Works next door was a furniture factory
and beyond it is Hope Mill, one of the first industrial buildings
on the canal, a former cotton mill dating from the
early 1820s and now with various art studios and businesses
The Church of All Soul on Every Street was designed by William Haley
in a rather curious version of Romanesque
and built in 1839-40. It closed as a church and was also listed Grade
II in 1984. It currently appears to be unused
