London Beijing Torch Relay Shames Olympic Ideals

Bloomsbury and Trafalgar Square, London. Sunday 6th April, 2008

Police try to hold the protesters after the relay had passed, probably to stop them going to Chinatown where the Chinese ambassador was to carry the torch.

Eventually the crowd broke through the double line of police, but they were stopped again further down the road ...

a little past the British Museum entrance.

After they had been held long enough to avoid them reaching the relay in Chinatown, a senior officer told them they would be allowed to leave by a side road. I left too and walked towards Trafalgar Square.
