End the Siege of Gaza

Downing Street, Whitehall, London. Saturday 5th April, 2008

One man insisted on holding his flag outside Downing St and was held by police

One officer tries to remove his bag

The flag is dropped on the floor while they take down details on a search form

The man picks his flage up from the wet pavement and the officer shouts at him, telling him to put the f***ing flag down

After a police request from the officer at the left edge of the frame I moved further away and continued to take pictures. While I was here a woman officer came up and put her hand over the front of my lens. I told her she was not allowed to do this and that her senior officers had said that it would be a very serious offence if police tried to stop photographers taking pictures in this way. She immediately rushed away across the road.

The police on the other side of the road were approached by the event organisers but denied any connection with the officers on the other side of Whitehall. The officer did attempt to excuse their actions on possible grounds of security, but I didn't feel he felt too happy about it.

It got even darker and gloomier and I caught the bus towards home.
