Vaisahki

Southall, London

Children played an important part in the procession, and most seemed to be enjoying themselves.

After the procession had passed, I returned to take a few pictures of the Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha in Southall which is the largest in the West.

The Ik Onkar inscription is the first two words of the Guru Granth Sahib: There is only one God.

The Gurdwara towers above the surrounding streets.

The 627th anniversary of the birth of Guru Ravi Dass Ji was celebrated in February. The teachings of this low caste Hindu saint were similar to those of Guru Nanak Sahib, the founder of Sikhism.
